The charcoal drawing is still used as a reference as I continue to add layers of paint.
I have decided at this point to simplify the work by eliminating some of the leaves. You can see this in the lower left hand part of the painting.
Each step of the way I continue to analyze the composition, rhythm and movement of the work and make refinements as I go.
Though this method of painting is more cerebral than other methods in which I've worked, it is absolutely not mechanical and leaves great room for poetic license.
