Creativity and The Business of Art

People who create art use their talents to enhance the world around us. But artists don’t always know how to use that same creativity to promote and market their craft. Though Mary Ahern has been a fine artist for over 30 years, like many baby boomers of her generation she needed to earn a steady living so she entered the business workforce. After many years in both regional & national sales and marketing positions Mary started her own graphic design business in the early ’90’s.
Now, using this entrepreneurial spirit, Mary is putting all her sales and marketing experience to promoting her own Art and her Artistic vision. She would like to share with you many of the steps she has taken to accomplish her goals. How to start a business, inventory management, legal and financial concerns, promotional materials and networking opportunities will be discussed. You will also take a guided tour of her current exhibit so you can see for yourself how her art has evolved as she has learned how to use her talent to build a lucrative business. Please call the Reference Desk to register.
